Prof. Dr. Battal Çıplak is a distinguished entomologist and the founder of the Molecular Evolution and Biogeography Laboratory (MEVBIL) at Akdeniz University in Antalya, Turkey. Since 1991, he has been at the forefront of orthopteran research, particularly focusing on the phylogeny, phylogeography, and conservation of cold-adapted high-mountain taxa in Anatolia and the surrounding regions. His work has significantly advanced the understanding of Orthoptera systematics and biogeography, establishing him as one of the leading orthopterists globally.
Prof. Çıplak's research encompasses a wide range of topics, including the mitogenomics of Tettigoniidae, the evolution of endemic species in Anatolia, and the conservation genetics of threatened orthopteran species.
