Setare is a senior student working in MEVBIL since 2023. She is working on a project focused on the mitogenomics of Schizodactylus inexpectacus, a species endemic to Anatolia within the Schizodactyloidea, Ensifera. The superfamily is represented by 20 species found in India and sub-Saharan Africa, with only one species present in Anatolia. To date, only two species from this superfamily, Comicus campestris (from Asia) and Schizodactylus jimo (from Africa), have had their total mitogenomes sequenced and characterized. Her project aims to obtain the total mitogenome of Schizodactylus inexpectacus using next-generation sequencing methods, perform a detailed characterization, and conduct a phylogenetic comparison within the superfamily, and is supported by TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey)
